Like art therapy, what are other win-win-win initiatives and collaborations can be done in order to make the most effective use of these limited funds that are needed by so many communities today?
Bobby Roy (they/them/theirs)
workforce development, youth engagement, cultural pathways
2nd ^- direct investment in workforce development, youth engagement, small business support – domestic tourism with direct reinvestment in its art centers and surrounding restaurants.
Hi Carissa – is this a question? Can you clarify pretty please?
Would a quarterly or monthly local creatives publication highlighting all forms of creative expression be helpful?
If our organization is offering free arts programming/resources to youth and the community, what are some ways to get the word out?
Rasie your hand and we will let you speak at the end of the meeting – also share this in the chat and we can add this to our resource page
Not a question, seconding Maya’s comment. Misused the zoom functionality.
Who will be in charge of these efforts? Will it be subgranted by non-arts- based orgs (foundations)? Is there room for the arts ed piece to marry with the tech equity piece?
You mention tourism, with fluctuating public health recommendations do we really see our city prioritizing large festivals or attempting to position ourselves as a travel destination within the next year?
Does anyone have any insight into the $181M CARES Act funding Sacramento County is receiving and what the priorities are with those funds?
Bobby Roy (they/them/theirs)
I support the mayors position. I support the workforce development training of the most vulnerable communities in Sacramento Manuel Pickett. Artistic director of teatro Espejo
how do we connect with the planning commission for the festivals I’d like to be envoled with that process
For Aftershock and others
On behalf Teatro Espejo [community theatre], thank you for this wonderful and informative meeting.
As artists and second responders that touch hearts and inspire others to create a better and more just world, I am interested in knowing if the funds are approved by the City, how can we ensure that the allocations are sensitive to the most historically underrepresented and marginalized communities in Sacramento? Will the deciding committee reflect the diversity of the city, particularly those segments most excluded in mainstream art? How can we move together to narrow the historical gaps in artistic representation that are so consequential in humanizing the beauty of our diverse and marginalized communities?
Manuel Barajas, Teatro Espejo Board of Directors, Professor of Sociology at Sac State
the arts culture and creative economy commission is reconvening starting june 8th and I’m trying to ensure that we center equity in our funding. its built into our cultural equity statement but we can do more. I’d love to discuss this further if you’re interested: email@example.com
What was the web address for the BoardRoom?
Mentors in the community? Who’s offering those and how do artists access them?
Will Notes on the info Denis shared be listed anywhere?
