Golden 1 Center (May 28, 2020) – More than 1,000 face masks donated to local nonprofits
Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) teamed up with local artists from The Atrium to promote community wellbeing by repurposing Golden 1 t-shirts into face masks for local nonprofit organizations. The Atrium is a community-based organization that provides co-working spaces for artists, many of whom have faced reduced income due to the coronavirus. These artists are hard at work to help meet the demand for masks while also providing free masks for first responders and health care workers.
Golden 1 provided 250 unused t-shirts from past events and commissioned the artists to transform them into 3-layer washable, reusable protective masks. Significant work goes into transforming the t-shirts into protective masks that will last through multiple washes.
“Golden 1 believes in people helping people, and this is a win-win combination. We are helping artists who are struggling due to COVID-19, and we are helping two amazing community nonprofits,” said Erica Taylor, Vice President, Communications and Community Relations. “This pandemic has been difficult for everyone, but nonprofits and the arts have been particularly impacted. We continue to look for ways to help our community through this crisis, and we are grateful for the opportunity to donate these masks to organizations providing critical services to those in need.”
