18:01:27 From Miguel Castillo  To  All Panelists : Dear Panelists.  Nothing has been available for organizations that put on events in our community.  We are very important to the Arts.  I personally produce and organize the Cinco De Mayo Festival, The Mariachi Festival, The Vegan Food Festival and co-produce The Nacho Festival, and assist in many other festivals in Sacramento.  We contract out many Artists, and create opportunities for multiple business as well as artists.  We hire Musicians, we hire production companies, along with multiple people that make it happen.  We have been shut down 100% since covid and everyone we know have been given opportunities for many people in the arts except for Producers/Promoters of events.  Is there anything available to assist us?

18:02:01 From Shira Lane  To  Miguel Castillo and  All Panelists : Hey Can you type this in the Q&A?

18:02:12 From Shira Lane  To  Miguel Castillo and  All Panelists : Then we can discuss this

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS DURING THE MEETING

Are these programs, etc available to those Artists in the area, (N. Cal) but not specifically in Sacramento?
Anonymous Attendee,
There are limits to funding with money required to go to city of Sacramento residents only,”if the grants are coming from the City of Sacramento then yes. The Atrium 916 tv project is county wide which includes Folsom, Elk Grove, Carmichael etc.”,Sacramento City Grant – is with the city. Our TV program is for Creatives in the Sacramento County.

Dear Panelists.
Miguel
You can apply for the creative economy CARES Act grants to receive help.

Does any of this apply to musicans/music producers?,
Yes for reimbursable expenses as Ray is explaining now.

Do bank statements count as documentation?
Duckee Art of the Day
duckee, as an auditor by day, I think it’s better to use a canceled check.  but if you paid with a debit card, then a bank statement would be okay. but I would ask staff specifically if you’re unsure.

If we applied in the first round, can we get feedback on the app if we were not selected (score/matrix)….so maybe we can tweak the app to do our best possible on the second round application?
Sonia Lewis,
Definitely attend those Zoom meetings Ray mentioned earlier for guidance to improve your submission this time . Again, link to access those resources are at www.arts.cityofsacramento.org/grants”,go ahead and ask staff to review your prior app with you too – let me know if I can help (this is Maya Wallace)

Hi, there are the caps the same as last time?
Abraham Perez
Yes, these caps depend on if you are an individual , business or non profit.

I am going to have to leave soon. Will a recording of this be posted somewhere?
Anonymous Attendee,
Yes, they are posted on the Atrium 916 website”,Direct link for creative economy recordings is https://atrium916.com/creative-economy/

If I had to leave and buy a hotel room to get out of a situation where a person in my home might have had covid, would that be covered under this (I did not receive any other funding or support to pay for these times).
David Loret
live answered

My apologies, I should have asked; As an Nonprofit with a budget under 500,000 the max reimbursement I may request is $20,000 right?
Abraham Perez
Yes, you can apply for an amount under the max but not more. They will look at your type of application and apply it accordingly.

Thank you!!!,Janine

Can you repeat the max amounts we can apply for for under the non-profit reimbursement program by budget size?
Anonymous Attendee,
there’s no maximum by budget, it is just information we are collecting for decision making purposes

I received a grant the first round. I applied for both BOT and Home Office Permit. I paid for the BOT which was fairly easy because you could apply on the site, but the Home Office Permit was a PDF form I was told to email. I was not aware their was a fee for that as well. How do I pay that?”
Anonymous Attendee
live answered

What are some of the things an individual artist can apply for?
JP
see in the budget scope the list at the bottom

Someone else asked, but can we find out how we were scored in the last round, i.e. why we lost points?
Anonymous Attendee,
live answered

For reimbursement for lost gigs for individual artists: if the amount of lost gigs went over $10,000 and the grantee received $10,000, can they include the differential in the second round?
Janine
Yes

What qualifies as acceptable documentation?
Kimberley Edington,
Receipt, bank statement, receipt has a date, who was paid. Make sure you black out sensitive info as these documents will become public

In the past worked as an individual artist for tax and paperwork but recently formally set up business account. What do I apply under? And also if I’m in unincorporated area and don’t have public access do I need BOT? Also for lost work how to align with an event where I would be making sales but no events!
Scatha G
Answered live

Are grants available to Placer County?
Barbara
Sadly this specific grant is for Sacramento City – but look for something similar in your region- maybe there is?

If I am a cultural media company but was closed to attend meetings and events as well as meet with people due to the COVID closures but our news company continued to post on our website, print our magazine, send eblast and post on social media – are we still eligible as a for profit to apply for reimbursement based on significant loss ad income.

As an individual artist, I don’t currently have the money to pay for the fees bus. account and home work permit. It’s the choice between groceries or this grant application. Am I just out of luck?
Jeff. Musser
live answered
One of the attendees said to reach out to them and they might be able to help you with these fees. Their email is AndYesPoetry@gmail.com

As an individual artist, can expenses that were previously covered by unemployment (like rent) but are no longer adequately covered post termination of the federal supplement be reimbursed?
Omonivie

The First Friday Open Studios at Warehouse Artist Lofts have been discontinued because of COVID-19. Can this potential lost income be considered under these grants even though specific amounts are unknown?
Anonymous Attendee,
Unfortunately they can not.

,Okay thanks.,
Duckee Art of the Day

So can get back vendor fee, or cancelled client contracts- but not money I could have made, existing contracts and spending.
Scatha G
live answered

I can do that. Thank you.,
Jeff ,

In regards to the wedding industry, do events that were contracted and cancelled and not rescheduled due to covid qualify for reimbursement
Michael Anderson,
Yes

Thank you!!!!!,
Janine

It’s not a service that could have come in.  If there is a $2,000 dj contract for a documented date for an event and the client cancels and you only receive $500 of the $2,000 for the date.  will the $1,500 be justified for reimbursment?
Michael Anderson
