Internationally renowned Sacramento artist, Sabrina Abbott, celebrates the spring issue of eLLe Global Woman with a selection of her stunning, vibrant oil-on-canvas works at the Atrium Gallery.
Abbot’s show features a collection of work in a style she has developed herself and dubbed “Perceptionism” or “Perceptionist Art”. This is her own adaptation of the Old Masters’ Technique, in which she layers pigments over a toned based layer to enhance the richness of color. This show has a limited run from May 4th to May 9th, a quick trip into this budding new concept of perceptionism you won’t want to miss.
Abbott’s subject matter is unconventional, surprising and thought-provoking. She specializes in painting discarded items, things otherwise regarded as trash. “Discarded remnants of our consumerist culture reflect the seemingly small decisions,” says Abbot. “Viewers are left to ponder the hidden stories and impact of these ignored fragments and instrospect about their relationships with the environment, consumerist culture, one another and themselves”.
Artists, art collectors and sustainability lovers are invited to the exhibition opening evening reception. Enjoy complimentary beverages, make art surrounded by art and experience the live interview with Sabrina Abbott. The gallery space is well ventilated with floor to ceiling accordion french doors that open to the patio, creating an indoor/outdoor setting.
