Campaign Yard Signs To Art! Calling All Campaigns to “Upcycle” Their Signs

On November 9, thousands of political yards signs will become obsolete. They are not recyclable and most of them will end up in the landfill unless candidates and campaigns participate in this unique Politics-to-Art event co-sponsored by Habitat for Humanity, Atlas Disposal, Atrium Creative Center for Sustainability, and the National Stewardship Action Council, coordinated by SMUD Board member, Gregg Fishman.

We encourage campaigns and others to collect as many signs as possible, after the election, and bring them to Habitat for Humanity Restore on Saturday, Nov.
12. We will make them available to artists, teachers, students, crafters, hobbyists and anyone who can put them to good use and keep them out of the landfill. We would prefer to have political signs made out of recyclable material. For now, this project will keep them out of the landfill. We will accommodate interview requests before the election and collection date.

Date: Saturday Nov, 12, 2022
Location: Habitat for Humanity Restore, 819 North 10th St. Sacramento
Times: Sign Drop Off: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
Sign Pick Up: 12:00 noon to 4:00
NOTE: Many local candidates will gather at 12:00 to drop off signs.
